Foster Farms

Foster Farms Uses OrgPlus Professional to Manage and Communicate Organizational Structure

Foster Farms had been using OrgPlus Standard 3.0 to manually create organizational charts for exempt and clerical employees, but this occurred twice a year at best, and charts were seriously out-of-date even as the document was distributed.

The need was great for an automated solution to create up-to-date organizational charts and to incorporate methods for rapid distribution. Foster Farms upgraded to OrgPlus Professional allowing employees to view up-to-date organizational charts over the company intranet.

Using OrgPlus 3.0, managers were able to easily create organizational charts, communicate company structure, and plan and budget effectively. Managers would initiate the process by creating organizational charts for their groups, which were then forwarded to the Human Resources department for review. The HR department would review the files and send back suggested changes to each manager, and the process would repeat until each departmental chart was approved and included in the master chart file. These charts were then distributed for printing and posting throughout the company.

While effective in providing a centralized repository of employee information, this was a multi-step process that couldn't deliver real-time information, meaning charts were generally updated only bi-annually, leaving information outdated.

Foster Farms needed a solution to automate employee information and communicate up-to-date organizational charts in real time while maximizing their investment in their existing HR systems.

Foster Farms upgraded to OrgPlus Professional allowing them to easily pull current employee count, position, salary and other relevant information to create customized organizational charts that can be updated weekly rather than semi-annually. More importantly, key executives in the organization can now get the charts they need for organizational modeling within minutes. Salary reports, head count roll-ups and other custom reports are created at the click of a button. Foster Farms is now able to efficiently communicate its organizational structure company-wide via the corporate intranet and create PowerPoint presentations or booklets.
